Friends Are Like Seashells embody our treasures

I have thoroughly loved using Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set and die set! It is so beautiful and makes me think of searching for treasures - seashells - in the sand by the water or just taking a calm walk on in the sand by the water. This is one of my favorite spreads this month.


  • The shells here use Shimmer White CS #101910 and are

  • Sponged with colors: Flirty Flamingo, Misty Moonlight, and Mint Macaroon

  • The background paper is Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper #154288 on page 41 in January to June mini catalog

  • 12 x 12 CS is Seaside Spray……sadly retired

Ice Cream Corner Suite for the hot summer days with picture tutorial

 

Don’t miss out on sprinkles and Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper! Another catalog is coming to a close….or at least some of the products. On the upside of it all, there will be lots of fun stamps, papers, and dies to explore and be creative with in the new July to December mini catalog.

The Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Ice Cream Corner Sprinkles will be retired and no longer sold after June or when supplies run out! I know I’ve had a lot of fun with this Suite and it’s perfect for summer birthdays and family scrapbook spreads celebrating the hot summer days!

You may want to go ahead and purchase the stamp/punch bundle also. Purchase before the end of June, and you will receive a 10% discount when getting the bundle. The stamp set and punch is in the annual catalog, but does not have a bundle discount.

  • Begin with the piece of Ice Cream Corner DSP that looks like a waffle cone cut 6” x 1 1/2” and use a oval die to round corners by inserting the one edge under the die and keeping the other end over the die. Do this for both sides.

  • Next, pull out the colors that coordinate with your favorite flavors of ice cream:

  • mint - Soft Seafoam

  • strawberry - Flirty Flamingo

  • peach - Pale Papaya

  • chocolate - Early Espresso

  • bubble gum - Coastal Cabana

  • cherry cheesecake - Blackberry Bliss

  • you pick……I know it will be delicious! Stamp on scrap Basic White and punch out

  • Cut a slimline card base 7 1/2” x 8 1/2” and score the 7 1/2” in half at 3 3/4” all the way down the 8 1/2” side

  • Cut a piece of Blackberry Bliss CS 3 1/8” x 7 7/8” for matte

  • Cut a piece of Ice Cream Corner DSP 3” x 7 3/4”

  • Pull out Ice Cream Sprinkles, Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon, either Tombo or Shimmery Crystal Effects, and your Stampin’ Dimensionals

  • Attach DSP to Blackberry Bliss matte and

  • Then tie a strip of Blackberry Bliss ribbon around in a knot

  • Attach Blackberry Bliss matte to scored card base

  • Attach ice cream scoops with Stampin’ Diminsionals

You have a couple of choices on adding Ice Cream Sprinkles. Here, Elizabeth, has put a small drop of Tombo where she want’s the sprinkles OR you can spread Shimmery Crystal Effects all over the ice cream scoop to look shiny, cold, and wet and then add Ice Cream Sprinkles by just dropping on. The Shimmery Crystal Effects is by far, the easiest way! :)

  • Cut a narrow 1/2” or 3/8” strip of vellum cardstock

  • Stamp sentiment on with Blackberry Bliss ink

  • Trim edges of vellum

  • Attach with 2 Stampin’ Up Glue Dots

I had trouble getting my iPad to allow me to type for the Sunday blog….so sorry! I did want to share some of the last wonderful moments at Maui. This has totally been one of the best vacations we have had! While on the resort…the scenery was just like pictures….totally beautiful!!!! And I definitely got some needed rest plus we got to see God’s beauty in a different part of the world. I was very impressed that Hawaiians are extremely polite and have a view that everyone should be polite - certainly makes for a pleasant life. Thank you all for helping me earn this trip!!!

It's time for Sweet Ice Cream Corner!

 

Remember those hot long sultry days of summer and then in the cool of the evening…..you hear the ice cream truck singing it’s song on the way by your neighborhood? I’ve already seen the ice cream truck come by our house this year! And what fun we had at Anna’s wedding with an ice cream truck for refreshment!

Just the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper makes me drool! And I’m supposed to be losing the few pounds I had lost and now gained back before Maui in 2 weeks….No Esther…..no ice cream tonight!

You can find Ice Cream Corner on pages 48-50 in the January through June mini catalog OR take a peek on page 32 in the new annual catalog for the stamp set, Sweet Ice Cream sold separately from punch on page 149.

Smooch Technique Video

It’s ready for you to watch! For those of you in my monthly stamp clubs, this will be a reminder of the technique I’ve used a couple of times this past year. The first card I used was last April using Forever Fern Bundle. I can’t find a picture and I’ve mailed out all of my cards….but look back in your tutorials.

Friends Are Like Seashells capture special family moments

Friends are Like Seashells is the best yet Stampin’ Up has created for seashells! It is just beautiful! And, the Pearlescent Specialty Paper, Seaside Seashells Dies, and Seashells 3D embossing folder just “sing” together to make the most elegant, textural, beautiful seashells ever!

I plan to use Sand & Sea Suite for May clubs….so come join me either in person or Zoom for the month of May!

This month, I also used Seaside Seashells Dies with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder for scrapbooking to make a simple but beautiful spread to capture those special moments in your life.

  • start with 12 x 12 Basic White Card Stock and Brayer Crumb Cake for the sand and Seaside Spray ink for the water/sky

  • stamp starfish and sand dollars and sand sprinkles in the sand

  • Die cut and then emboss and color seashells with a blending brush or sponge dauber - then cut out individually

  • die cut lettering with Hand Lettered Prose Dies (Retired) or your choice in Misty Moonlight card stock

Our 2nd scrapbook spread this month used the fun fun Sweet Ice Cream Bundle. This is a perfect punch bundle page 49 in the January to June Mini catalog. The punch works so well with the stamp set and the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper is a sure pleaser to make you want to go to get some ice cream right now! Like yum yum!!!

  • Woven DSP is made by cutting strips of 1/2” x 12” and laying several out vertically. Then take the remaining strips and weave over and under the vertical strips of DSP

  • DSP is matted in Blackberry Bliss card stock. the DSP really pops using this color

  • Sprinkles are put on to top ice cream scoop by applying Shimmery Crystal Effects and then dropping the sprinkles on. Lay aside to dry awhile.

  • Sentiments are from Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and Valentine Keepsakes stamp set in January to June Mini Catalog

  • Colors for ice cream scoops are: Flirty Flamingo ink on Brushing Bride CS, Granny Apple Green ink on Soft Seafoam CS, Terracotta Tile ink on Bumblebee CS, Bermuda Bay ink on Pool Party CS, and Blackberry Bliss ink on Purple Posy CS

Garden Gateway Dies…..another gem to get before April 30th! Use with Snail Mail bundle

 

I found another gem this week to purchase before it completely retires! On page 54 of the January to June mini catalog there is the cutest Snail Mail mail box card. I made a card on a smaller scale measuring 3 1/4” x 6” and used the outline die of the gate from Garden Gateway Dies to cut the mailbox. Here’s how:

Snail Mail Mailbox card

  • Begin by using the die from Garden Gateway Dies and cut a mailbox

  • Next choose a Layering Squares Die or a Stitched Shapes square die or a square punch around the size of 1” or 1 1/4” to cut the legs out of the mailbox

  • Die cut a Scalloped Square in Pool Party from Layering Squares Dies for the “postage stamp” on the outside of mailbox so you have a plumb line for cutting a slit with your paper trimmer to insert the envelopes die cut form the envelope die in the Snail Mail Bundle.
